Jon Batiste, Justin Bieber, And H.E.R. Lead 2022 Grammy Nominations
The 2022 Grammy award nominations are here!
Leading the pack is Jon Batiste who earned 11 nominations including Album of the Year (We Are) and Record Of the Year (“Freedom”). Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. follow suit each with eight nominations, while Billie Eilish earned nominations for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Newcomers Silk Sonic also picked up four nominations for their banger “Leave the Door Open.”
Despite its diminishing representation at the ceremony itself, several rock and metal acts picked up nominations. Everyone’s favorite rock band the Foo Fighters are up for three awards, including Best Rock Album (Medicine At Midnight) and Best Rock Performance (“Making a Fire”). Rob Zombie’s “The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition)” is up for Best Metal Performance alongside Gojira (“Amazonia”), Dream Theater (“The Alien”), Deftones (“Genesis”), and Mastodon (“Pushing the Tides”).
See the complete list of the nominations below.
In preparation of next year’s ceremony, the Recording academy made several changes to the voting system and body, such as removing secret nominating committees and inviting over 2,700 musicians and industry professionals to join the voting body with 55 percent of those coming from “traditionally underrepresented groups.”
The 2022 Grammy Awards will take place on January 31st.
