AFI premiere new video ‘Hidden Knives’ on NME

Davey Havok may be focused on Dream Car, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about AFI. The punk band dropped a new music video for their latest single “Hidden Knives” over at NME. The clip has a film noir vibe with its black and white look and dark plot. It finds Havok riding in a classic car and showing up at a masquerade party. He’s enraptured with a fellow female guest, which turns fatal when he becomes part of a mysterious death ritual. Check out the video here.

Speaking about the new album, AFI, with NME Havok said: “It’s very difficult for me to describe musically what’s happening on any record because I’m so close to it. It’s a natural expression of who I am and who we are at the time. However in relation to ‘Burials’, I feel ‘The Blood Album’ feels like the aftermath – like waking in the ash that fell from the flames that was the ‘Burials’ record. This record is lyrically less bleak. Albeit dark still, but less bleak.”

AFI is hitting the road with Circa Survive this summer. Dates kick off Jul. 18 in Atlanta, GA and run through Aug. 5 in Seattle, WA.

At the same time, Havok is gearing up to release the self-titled debut album from Dream Car, his side project with No Doubt members Tom Dumont, Adrian Young, and Tony Kanal. Check out their latest song, “Born to Lie,” below. Their debut album comes out May 12.
