Babymetal Guitarist Mikio Fujioka Dies At 36

Sad news to share this morning. Babymetal guitarist Mikio “Ko-Gami” Fujioka has died at 36 years old. While a cause of death has yet to be revealed, Metro.co.uk reports that the guitarist fell from an observation deck on December 30. Afterwards, his condition “rapidly deteriorated” and he reportedly died on January 5.

The band broke the news on their Facebook page earlier today (Jan. 9) saying:

Fujioka was Babymetal’s longtime lead guitarist. He first performed with the band in 2013 and continued playing with them as their popularity skyrocketed.

Our hearts go out to Mikio Fujioka’s friends and family during this difficult time.
