CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry Debuts First Solo Single ‘Are You Awake?’
CHVRCHES‘ Lauren Mayberry has shared her first solo single “Are You Awake?”
The song was co-written with Tobias Jesso Jr. along with Matthew Koma. Prior to the song’s release, Mayberry shared a video where she said the song was a “happy accident” that came together on “a grey, rainy afternoon in December” while she was “pretty homesick and missing everyone.”
“As soon as Tobias started playing the chords, the lyrics and melody came to me really quickly,” she said. “I finished the song with Matthew, who really understood what I was trying to say.”
