Dates for National Theatrical Tour of “Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk” with Green Day Announced

The dates for the national film tour of  the upcoming punk documentary Turn it Around: The Story of East Bay Punk have been announced! See below for the full list of dates. The screenings will take place across North America in tandem with Green Day’s Revolution Radio World Tour – a pretty smart release strategy! Considering that Turn it Around: The Story of East Bay Punk tells the story of the California Bay Area’s punk music history with a central focus on the emergence of Berkeley’s inspiring 924 Gilman Street music collective – including Green Day – it’s no surprise the band would help promote the documentary. Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt also executive produced it with Pat Magnarelly and contributed interviews about Green Day’s beginnings.

Green Day have shot the video of their current single “Revolution Radio” in the infamous Punk club 924 Gilman Street to celebrate the release of the documentary. The place was vital for the beginnings of the band and still gives many underground artists the chance to play some gigs. Billie Joe Armstrong’s sons Joey Armstrong (SWMRS) and Jakob Danger Armstrong (Mt. Eddy) have come full circle and played Gilman with their bands.

Turn it Around: The Story of East Bay Punk was written and directed by Corbett Redford and is narrated by the iconic Iggy Pop. Other artists appearing include Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Duff McKagan (Guns N Roses), Jello Biafra & East Bay Ray (Dead Kennedys), Ian Mackaye (Fugazi, Minor Threat), Tim Armstrong, Matt Freeman & Lars Fredricksen (Rancid), Brett Gurewitz & Jay Bentley (Bad Religion), Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, The Julie Ruin) , Michael Franti (Spearhead, Beatnigs) and more than 100 artists and musicians from California’s East Bay punk rock music scene.
