Deftones Share Brutal New Song ‘Genesis’

In anticipation of the release of their new album, Ohms, Deftones have shared the LP’s second single “Genesis.”

The brutal track starts out slowly, gradually building up before it explodes in a fury of ripping guitars and Chino Moreno’s biting vocals, which switch from melodic singing to full-on screams. Check out the song’s accompanying performance video directed by Sebastian Kökow below.

Previously, the band shared the lead single “Ohms,” which Moreno has said “it’s looking back not just at the batch of songs that come before it, but our lives and our surroundings. The verses are reflecting, but the chorus kind of says, ‘Yes this, but this‘ – it’s saying that time will change with the decisions we make. It’s a question and an answer.”

Deftones will release their highly anticipated new album, Ohms, September 25th. Pre-order a copy here.

Deftones originally planned to embark on a summer North American tour this year, but the dates have been postponed due to the global pandemic. The tour will now launch August 2021 with support from Gojira and Poppy. Get tickets and see all the dates here.
