Evanescence Share New Song From ‘Devil May Cry’ Netflix Series

Evanscence have shared their new song “Afterlife” for the new Netflix anime series Devil May Cry, which premieres on April 3rd.

“I absolutely love the show, art and story,” singer Amy Lee told Billboard. “I have always loved good anime. Right from the first scene of the show, I knew it was going to be good. Creative and thought-provoking, horrific and beautiful, classic.”

Devil May Cry is based on the video game franchise of the same name, created in 2001 by Hideki Kamiya. Though Lee wasn’t familiar with the game, she watched the entire first season of the show before co-writing the song with DJ/producer/composer Mako, aka Alex Seaver.

“I love it. It’s so well done. It’s beautiful to look at,” she told The Gamer. “I mean, it’s gruesome, it’s not for children. But when I say it’s well done, I mean the story and it’s layered and you’re like, ‘Oh, shit!’ You’re definitely on a trip constantly.”

Evanescence is currently working on the follow-up to their 2021 album, The Bitter Truth. In May, the band will open for Halsey in Los Angeles. They’re also slated to support My Chemical Romance in Florida and play Louisville’s Louder Than Life festival in September. See all their tour dates here.
