Evanescence Release Surreal ‘The Game Is Over’ Music Video

Evanescence has shared their new, iPhone shot music video for their new single “The Game Is Over.”

The clip, filmed by the band themselves in collaboration with director P.R. Brown, brings out the creepy side of the band as they wear masks, smear lipstick on themselves, give the camera deadpan stares, and scream in the camera with trippy effect layered on top. Watch the video below.

“This was by far and away the most difficult video I’ve ever been a part of, emotionally,” says bassist Tim McCord. “In order to capture the raw emotion of what life really is for us these days, I had to get to some really dark places. I hope we can all view this video and heal together.”

“The Game Is Over” is the second single from Evanescence’s upcoming album The Bitter Truth, due out later this year.

“This song is about being sick of the facade,” singer Amy Lee said in a statement. “The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around. ‘The Game is Over’ is a promise to myself and out loud that I’m going to be more of my real, inner self on the outside—not lock her up because she can’t be contained anymore,” she continued. “It’s also a prayer to become better, to not feel so messed up, locked up, and hurt inside.”

Evanescence recently rescheduled their European tour with Within Temptation. Check out the new dates here.
