Kesha Shares New Song ‘Here Comes The Change’ From Upcoming Ruth Bader Ginsburg Movie
Kesha calls for universal equal rights on her new acoustic ballad “Here Comes the Change.” The song will be featured in the upcoming biopic On the Basis of Sex, about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Check out the accompanying lyric video directed by Brandon Bloch below.
In an op-ed for Refinery29, Kesha says the song is inspired by her own adulation for RBG. She also hopes it’ll inspire those who hear it to get out and vote in November.
She wrote “I hope the song and the video reminds you that we don’t all have to loom as large as these heroes to make a difference. We can all vote and speak up for what we believe in. We can all have a positive impact on our shared future.” Read the rest of her statement here.
Director Mimi Leder released a statement about the song saying “I wanted her to write this song because her passionate voice and immense talent magnify the social justice imperatives Ruth Bader Ginsburg continues to fight for every day,” Leder said in a statement. “It was important to both of us that this song be not only an anthem to all that Ruth Bader Ginsburg achieved, but also a rallying cry for how much more change is yet to come.”
On the Basis of Sex opens in theaters this Christmas and stars Felicity Jones. Watch the trailer here.
