L7 Speak Out Against Billionaire Tycoons On New Single ‘Cooler Than Mars’

L7 call out power-obsessed billionaires and bemoans the effects of climate change on new song “Cooler Than Mars.”

“The song was inspired by the ongoing catastrophic news of climate change, and the strange passions of billionaire space cowboys to explore and exploit the outer limits of our stratosphere,” singer Donita Sparks said in a statement. “Seems to me such obsessions and resources should be totally focused on healing The Big Blue Marble. I feel like there is nothing ‘out there’ that is as mind-blowing as the biodiversity of what we have here on Earth. Because we’re cooler than Mars, damnit.”

The song’s accompanying music video is cheesy but in a good way. It features members of the band against a green screen showing footage of things that make Earth cool, including ocean waves, flora, and cute animals.

“Cooler Than Mars” will be released as a limited edition 1000-copy four-pack flexi disc single. Pre-order it here.
