Linkin Park Team Up With 100 Gecs For ‘One Step Closer (100 Gecs Reanimation)’ Remix

Linkin Park continues their Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary celebration with a new remix of “One Step Closer” by 100 gecs.

“One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation)” remix sounds like the song being run through a computer in the middle of glitching out. It keeps the heavy vibe of the original and mashes it with 100 gecs experimental vocals, which range from weird to scary, and their brand of hyper electropop taking the song to new heights.

“Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the Hybrid Theory songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected,” said Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. “I think 100 gecs did exactly that.”

“One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation)” is the first in a new series featuring remakes and remixes of Hybrid Theory tracks by different collaborators. “Stay tuned for more, as the next era of Linkin Park dawns now,” teases the press release.

Recently, Kim Hongjoong, one of the members of the K-pop band ATEEZ, transformed Linkin Park’s “Numb” into a K-Pop hit. Singing in both English and Korean, Hongjoong gives the song an unexpected modern pop makeover. Listen to it below.

Linkin Park released Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition in October.
