Marilyn Manson Hires The Mars Volta Bassist Juan Alderete

Marilyn Manson has found their new bass player. The band hired The Mars Volta’s Juan Alderete to replace Twiggy Ramirez. Alderete, who was previously a member of Racer X, made his live debut with the band over the weekend at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in San Bernadino, CA.

As to be expected, Manson stirred up some controversy at this performance when he pointed a fake rifle at the crowd while confined to a wheelchair due to his recent onstage accident. The stunt came hours after a real-life gunman opened fire in a church in Texas. It was most likely Manson’s attempt at being shocking, but it’s still in poor taste.

Manson fired longtime bassist and songwriter Twiggy Ramirez last month after he was publicly accused of rape by his former girlfriend Jessicka Adams of Jack Off Jill.

Ramirez aka Jeordie White later released a statement regarding the accusation saying “I have only recently been made aware of these allegations from over 20 years ago. I do not condone non-consensual sex of any kind. I will be taking some time to spend with my family and focus on maintaining my several years of sobriety. If I have caused anyone pain I apologize and truly regret it.”
