Mayhem Announce New Album ‘Liturgy Of Death’
Mayhem have announced their new album, Liturgy of Death, out February 6th via Century Media, marking their first new record in seven years.
A press release reveals the band’s seventh album sees the black-metal titans turning “their focus toward the inescapable reality of death” via songs that examine “loss, fear of dying, powerlessness and the fragility of existence through a stark and unrelenting lens.”
One of those songs is new single “Weep for Nothing,” a song that band says “turns the fear of mortality into revelation, a hymn to nothingness where grief becomes meaningless. With its cold and fast grandeur, razor-sharp riffs. and a suffocating atmosphere, the band channels it channels the essence of mortality without offering solace or escape.”
Listen to the song below.
In support of the upcoming album, the band will head out on the “Death Over Europe” headlining tour. The trek starts on February 5th in the Netherlands and runs through February 28th with a show in Gothenburg. Mardul and Immolation join as support.
