Metalocalypse Returns With New Movie Trailer And First New Song In 10 Years

The Metalocalypse is upon us! Animated heavy metal band Dethklok returns in the new trailer for Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, a new movie from Adult Swim that will be released on demand and Blu-Ray/DVD on August 22nd.

Written and directed by series co-creator Brendon Small, the movie follows frontman Nathan Explosion as he attempts to write the Song of Salvation, the only thing that can save the planet from Metalocalypse.

In addition to co-creators Small and Tommy Blacha, the film also features guest stars Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, Kirk Hammett, Mark Hamill, King Diamond, Jon Hamm, Amy Lee, Malcolm McDowell, Juliet Mills, Laraine Newman, Raya Yarbrough, Livia Zita, and Scott Ian.

Additionally, the band have revealed Deathalbum IV will arrive the same day as Army of Doomstar, while the film’s soundtrack follows on August 25th. As a preview, the band have unleashed “Aortic Desecration,” their first new song in 10 years. Listen to it below.

If you want to revisit the series before the release of the long-awaited movie, all 62 episodes will be released in a new box set Metalocalypse: The Complete Series on August 15th both digitally and on DVD.
