Pendulum Announce First New Album In 15 Years

Pendulum have announced their first new album in 15 years, Inertia, out on August 22nd. They also shared their new single, “Save the Cat,” as a taste of what’s to come.

A press release reveals the song was written “in the wake of two breakups — one that unraveled slowly over time, and another that hit without warning.” “It was written during a period of self-questioning and frustration,” frontman Rob Swire said. “Love felt like something I didn’t fully trust myself with anymore.” Listen to the song below.

The album, co-produced by Swire and Own Charles, features 16 tracks, eight new tracks, and eight songs from EPs released in 2021 and 2023. This includes previously released collab singles like “Halo” (featuring Bullet for My Valentine), “Louder Than Words” (feat. Hybrid Minds), “Mercy Killing” (feat. Scarlxrd), and “Napalm” (feat. Joey Violence & Brae). It also features new collabs with Wargasm and AWOLNATION.

“I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum. Seeing what we could get away with,” Swire says. “I always looked at The Prodigy as the benchmark. They started out as pure rave–breakbeat, hardcore – but they evolved. They became their own sound. You don’t even really associate them with breakbeat anymore. They just are The Prodigy.

“It’s the sound of Pendulum finding themselves again, and me figuring myself out to a certain extent. Break-ups do that – they strip things down and show you who you are. I’m just trying not to become the guy who needs to go through one just to make a record.”

Pendulum will play a handful of UK shows this summer, including a headline show at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes on August 9th. See all their dates here.
