Pixies Announce New Album ‘The Night The Zombies Came’
Pixies have announced their new album The Night the Zombies Came, out, appropriately enough, on October 25th via BMG.
The 13-track album, produced by Tom Dalgety, deals with “disparate wonders” such as “Druidism, apocalyptic shopping malls, mediaeval themed restaurants, 12th-century poetic form, surf rock, gargoyles, bog people, and the distinctive dry drum sound of 1970s era Fleetwood Mac,” according to a press release. This marks the first album recorded with new bassist Emma Richardson formerly of Band of Skulls, who replaced Paz Lenchantin earlier this year.
To preview the record, the band have shared the lead single “Chicken,” on which frontman Black Francis “personifies poultry, dealing with decapitation, and feeling like an actor of Zombie movies.”

“Chicken” follows the previously released single “You’re So Impatient.”
Meanwhile, Black Francis recently announced a North American tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Teenager of the Year. See all the dates here.
