Sade Releases First New Song In Six Years ‘Young Lion’
Sade Adu has released “Young Lion,” her first new song in six years.
The song is part of TRAИƧA: Selects, a collection of five songs from the upcoming compilation concept album, TRAИƧA. The album also features songs from L’Rain, André 3000, Lauren Auder, and more.
Released by activist and music production non-profit Red Hot, TRAИƧA is a musical celebration of trans and non-binary people featuring over 100 artists. Sade’s contribution is a heartfelt apology to her son, Izaak, who came out as trans in 2016, for not understanding him better.
Speaking about his reaction to the song to Rolling Stone, Izaak said “Though there was nothing I needed to forgive her for, the lyrics ‘Forgive me, son, I should have known,’ struck a chord. My mum never tried to oppress the boy I silently always knew I was. She always let me be me.”
