Static Dress Unveil New Song ‘Crying’

Static Dress have shared their new single “crying,” their first new music of 2024.

The band teased the release earlier this week with an interactive puzzle on their website. The first 300 fans who solved it received a limited edition Flexi disc of “crying.”

The song comes with a nightmarish official music video directed by the band themselves.

Frontman Olli Appleyard reveals the video “explores several themes of the song’s lyrical character, revolving around taboo topics presented as a battle between the sacred and the profane. Rather than focusing solely on striking presentation and the visual stimulation of colour and design, we ask the viewer to travel through multiple scenes, all with their own subject matter; guilt and battling with self-loathing, mass corporate manipulation, capitalist horde mentality and weaponised lust.

“We hope to provoke further questions and conversation with this piece,” Olli adds, “aiming to push the boundaries of our own storytelling and visual presentation in a way that exhibits the growth we’ve experienced in recent years.”

Static Dress will join Underoath’s They’re Only Chasing Safety 20th anniversary tour in the UK and North America. Additionally, the band will appear at 2000trees Festival in the UK alongside The Gaslight Anthem, Better Lovers, Nova Twins, grandson, Creeper, and Empire State Bastard.
