The 1975 Release New Trippy Animated Video For ‘The Birthday Party’

The 1975 have released their new single “The Birthday Party” along with its accompanying music video.

The 3D animated clip, directed by Ben Ditto and co-director/lead artist Jon Emmony, sees the band taking a digital detox in the colorful world of Mindshower. While there, the band run into different characters from sites like Reddit and 4chan.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, frontman Matt Healy spoke about the song saying “Oh, dude it’s one of the things I’m most proud of. The videos and the music have always been very, very much tied together and come at the same time.”

Ditto also released a statement about the video saying “Matty and I have a shared fascination with the underbelly of internet culture and how that impacts modern life, and we looked to address this from several directions and created an engaging and beautiful piece of filmmaking to contain these messages and their performance in a revolutionary way.

“The Birthday Party” appears on The 1975’s upcoming album, Notes On a Conditional Form, out April 24th. They’ll embark on their North American tour shortly after its release. Check out all their dates here.
