While You Were Away: Magdalena Bay’s New LP, New Music From Pale Waves And Eminem, Disney Goes Pop Punk, And More
While You Were Away is back from vacation! This week we’re talking about new songs from Pale Waves and Eminem, Magdalena Bay’s new album, Disney’s pop-punk album (we’re being serious), and more.
Eminem tries to kill Slim Shady in ‘Tobey’ video
Eminem has shared the video for his new song “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron. The track is taken from his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) .
The clip, directed by Cole Bennett, shows BabyTron and Big Sean as factory employees working on the assembly line before handing things over to Eminem. The rapper hangs out in front of his childhood home recreating the alternate cover art to 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP. Suddenly, Eminem grabs a chainsaw and tries to kill an alternate version of himself.

Pale Waves share new single ‘Glasgow’
Pale Waves have shared their new single “Glasgow.”
Taken from their upcoming album Smitten, singer Heather Baron-Gracie calls this her favorite track from the record.
“It’s about leaving someone because you know it’s no good for either of you anymore,” the vocalist explains. “It somehow breaks my heart but also makes me feel so euphoric at the same time.”

Smitten drops September 20th via Dirty Hit.
Disney reveals pop punk covers album ‘A Whole New Sound’
We didn’t see this one coming. Disney have announced an official pop-punk covers album, A Whole New Sound, due out later this year. No, this is not a joke.
Mickey and friend have asked some “iconic alternative, rock and pop-punk bands” to help them with the project, which features Disney classics with a pop-punk twist. So far, they haven’t revealed the full tracklist, but they have shared Simple Plan’s cover of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” for the Lion King’s 30th anniversary.
“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” enthuse Simple Plan. “We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
