Here is your weekly reminder to stop doomscrolling through the bad news and catch up with what’s happening in music. Ahead of the release of Pirouette next week, Model/Actriz have shared their new song “Diva.”

Frontman Cole Haden describes “Diva” as “the most off-the-cuff” song on the album. “Unlike most songs of ours which feel necessary to be written feverishly in a vacuum, these lyrics largely came together in the booth, and the character of this song really fell into place once I traded my pen for a glass of wine.”

He continues, “The song takes place on a date, and the song references many of the real ones I’ve been on while on tour. Specifically, I’m remembering the times where frivolity shifted to mourning as we both realised we may never see each other again once the night is over. What I’ve learned is that in order to be ‘that bitch,’ one must make use of the melancholia.”

CONTRACULT Collective return with new song ‘OPD’

Our favorite industrial duo is back. After weeks of teasing, CONTRACULT Collective have released their new single “OPD.”

The follow up to last year’s “My Episode” and “The Process” is another industrial banger that goes hard. It grabs you by the throat, punches you in the gut, and won’t stop until it’s over. Listen to the new song below.

So far, the band hasn’t mentioned if there’s a follow up to 2022’s The New Torment in the works. They released their remix EP, Re-Processed, last year.

CONTRACULT Collective will kick off a run of East Coast dates on May 2nd in Queens, New York. See all their dates below.

The Cure have announced a new remix album, Mixes of a Lost World, featuring reimagined versions of tracks from their latest record, Songs of a Lost World.

Due to arrive on June 13th, the album features mixes by Four Tet, Orbital, Paul Oakenfold, Mogwai, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, and more.

“Just after Christmas, I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of Songs of a Lost World tracks and I really loved them,” stated The Cure’s Robert Smith in a press release. “The Cure has a colorful history with all kinds of dance music, and I was curious as to how the whole album would sound entirely reinterpreted by others.”

He added, “This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all 8 songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for. Giving our recording royalties from the project to war child helps make ‘mixes of a lost world’ an even more special release.”

Remixes by Moreno, Mogwai, and 65daysofstatic only appear on the 3LP or 3CD deluxe editions. Remixes by Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, and others appear on the standard 2LP or 2CD editions, as well as the deluxe versions. Listen to Four Tet’s remix of “Alone” below.

Joey Jordison’s family to release posthumous Vimic album

JOEY JORDISON's Family Launches Kickstarter To Finally Release His VIMIC Record - Metal Injection

The surviving members of Vimic, the hard rock band co-founded by late Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, have revealed plans to release their long-awaited debut album, Open Your Omen, later this year.

The band launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the album, which was recorded in 2014. Additionally, the Jordison Family Estate has spent the last several years trying to get the rights to the music, which had been expected to be released in 2018 via Universal Music Enterprises/T-Boy.

“Joey didn’t do anything small,” Jordison’s family wrote on Kickstarter. “We want to release this album the way he would have wanted; with the designs he was so actively involved with creating for the CD, double LP, merch, and with the support of his fans to make the biggest splash we can upon release.”

The Kickstarter campaign officially launches on April 28th. Find more information here.
