WYWA: Garbage, HEALTH And Chelsea Wolfe Collab, YUNGBLUD, And More
It’s finally starting to feel like spring, at least here in Chicago. The sun is up, the birds are singing, and I’m stuck inside working at the office. Oh well, you probably are too. Let’s enable your procrastination with this week’s edition of While You Were Away. This week we’re talking about HEALTH and Chelsea Wolfe’s new collab, new music from Garbage and Soccer Mommy, the return of YUNGBLUD, and more.
HEALTH team up with Chelsea Wolfe on new song ‘MEAN’

HEALTH have teamed up with Chelsea Wolfe for new collab song “MEAN.”
Produced by Stint, who produced HEALTH’s RAT WARS LP, and mixed by Lars Stalfors, the song is about the dissolution of a relationship past the point of mending.
“The thing that I like the most about these kinds of projects — and this song — is that, at least to my ear, it doesn’t really sound like what you would [expect] when you would hear HEALTH or Chelsea Wolfe. It ended up being its own thing,” HEALTH’s Jake Duzsik tells Revolver. “That’s what’s coolest about collaborating: You can’t really have that much of an agenda. You just have to do what naturally happens.”

YUNGBLUD announces new album ‘IDOLS’

YUNGBLUD has announced his new fourth album, IDOLS, out on June 20th. As a preview, he shared new single “Lovesick Lullaby.” Stream the song below.
IDOLS marks part one of YUNGBLUD’ s upcoming double album. Thematically, the LP deals with the idea of “hero worship” and seeking validation from others. “We turn to others for an identity before turning to ourselves. Self-belief, self-reclamation, self-evolution and change,” Yungblud said in a press release. “As we grow up, we lose our belief in magic and mystery. We begin to rationalize everything; our cage walls build up. We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast.”
Additionally, YUNGBLUD has announced a 2025 North American summer tour. See those dates here.
Garbage unleash new song ‘Get Out Of My Face AKA Bad Kitty’

Garbage have shared new song, “Get Out Of My Face AKA Bad Kitty,” the latest from their upcoming album Let All That We Imagine Be the Light.
The track finds vocalist Shirley Manson mad as hell as she lashes out at the ongoing war on women in America. “When I was young, I didn’t really notice how things worked,” Manson said in a press release. “People like to shuffle older women off the lot, because you start to see the chessboard in a way you didn’t when you were younger. When you’re young, you’re wanting to get on with your life, have an adventure, do what you love, and you’re conditioned by the society that you grew up in, so a lot of the time you don’t see what’s going on. Then, as you get older, you start to see how things are stacked up against some of us – not all of us.”
“I am outraged by the way the world treats blacks and browns and gays and trans peoples and animals and women. Living in America over the last couple of years, the absolute war on women in America is astounding. All the rights that we felt had been secured are starting to get pushed back into the Middle Ages. It is something that I can no longer tolerate silently. It’s not just infuriating, it’s alarming. It’s frightening.”

Soccer Mommy reveals new EP ‘Evergreen’

Soccer Mommy aka Sophie Allison, has announced her new EP Evergreen (stripped), a reimagining of her 2024 album, Evergreen, out June 6th via Loma Vista.
The EP features five reworked versions of songs from Evergreen, including previously released “Driver (stripped)” and new single “She Is (stripped).” “This song didn’t make the cut for Evergreen but it was always really special to me. I think the stripped version does it justice while staying close to the demo,” Allison reveals in a press release.
