The White Stripes Announce First Greatest Hits Album
The White Stripes have announced their first-ever greatest hits album titled The White Stripes Greatest Hits.
The 26-track LP comes out December 4th via Third Man Records in conjunction with Columbia. So far, the full tracklist hasn’t been revealed. The only song confirmed to appear on the album is “Ball and Biscuit.” To celebrate the upcoming release, the band shared a previously unreleased live performance of the Elephant track captured at Tokyo, Japan’s Shibuya-AX on October 22nd, 2003. Watch the video below.
The standard version of the album will be released on vinyl and CD. There’s also an expanded version available via the Third Man Vault subscription service. The Vault exclusive includes a third disc of “largely overlooked, previously scattered B-sides.” The bonus tracklist features songs like “Lafayette Blues,” “Good to Me,” “Black Jack Davey,” “St. Ides of March,” and “Though I Hear You Calling, I Will Not Answer.”
The Vault version will also be packaged in a jacket featuring separate artwork by longtime Stripes collaborator Rob Jones. The LPs will also be pressed on white and red vinyl, while the bonus B-sides disc will be released on “detonation: black, white, and red vinyl. The package also includes three randomly inserted Jones 8×10 silkscreen prints and a set of lyric magnets.
Pre-orders for the standard and expanded versions of the LP are now live.
The White Stripes recently relaunched their Instagram page and plan to release high definition versions of their music videos. The clips will be uploaded to their YouTube page in December alongside “more from the archives.”
