Slipknot Share New Song ‘Yen’
Slipknot have given us another taste of their highly anticipated album The End, So Far with new single “Yen.”
Unlike previously released tracks “The Chapeltown Rag” and “The Dying Song (Time to Sing),” “Yen” takes things in a softer direction. It’s a heavy ballad akin to “Killpop” that opens with a slow instrumental that leads to melodic verse, but don’t let that fool you. Once the hook hits, the song goes hard with guttural screams, thunderous percussion, roaring and riffs.
Considering the previous singles, it’s a bit unexpected for the band, but a welcomed surprise. Not only does it show off their wide range, it also shows that after 23 years since their debut LP, the band still know how to keep us on our toes.
Listen to the song below.
The self-produced album, The End, So Far, comes out September 30th. Pre-orders available here.
Slipknot will embark on their third leg of their Knotfest Roadshow this fall. They’ll be joined by special guests Ice Nine Kills and Crown the Empire. The fall run will also include festival appearances at Louder than Life and Aftershock. The band is currently making the festival rounds in Europe, including their own Knotfest Germany and Finland dates. Find all of their upcoming shows here.
