Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, and JAY-Z Among Nominees For 2021 Rock Hall Of Fame
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the nominees for the 2021 class.
Up for induction are Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, JAY-Z, and Kate Bush. Other finalists include Chaka Khan, DEVO, Iron Maiden, The Go-Go’s, Carole King, New York Dolls, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Fela Kuti, Mary J. Blige, Todd Rundgren, and LL Cool J.
This marks the first nomination for Foo Fighters, the Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick. Carole King was previously inducted along with Gerry Goffin as a non-performer in 1990 and Tina Tuner entered the institution in 1991 along with Ike Turner. If the Foo Fighters are inducted, Dave Grohl will be inducted for a second time. He was previously inducted with Nirvana in 2014.
Rock Hall also revealed which band members will be up for induction. Iron Maiden’s current lineup of Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers, along with former singer Paul Di’Anno, former drummer Clive Burr, and former guitarist Dennis Stratton would be inducted.
For the Foo Fighters, it’s the current lineup of Dave Grohl, drummer Taylor Hawkins, bassist Nate Mendel, keyboardist Rami Jaffee, and guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett. As for DEVO, it would be the classic Seventies/early Eighties lineup of Mark Mothersbaugh, bassist/singer Gerald Casale, drummer Alan Myers, keyboardist/guitarist Bob Casale, and guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh.
For the New York Dolls, it’s frontman David Johansen, bassist Arthur “Killer” Kane, guitarists Johnny Thunders and Sylvain Sylvain, and drummers Jerry Nolan and Billy Murcia. Johansen is the sole living New York Doll after the recent death of Sylvain Sylvain.
The finalists will be determined by votes from a group of artists, historians, and music industry members, as well as a fan vote, which starts today. Fans can cast their votes here.
