Chvrches Announce New Album ‘Screen Violence,’ Share New Song With Robert Smith
Chvrches have announced their new album, Screen Violence, out August 27th via Glassnote Records. The band previews the album with new single “How Not To Drown” featuring The Cure‘s Robert Smith.
Listen to it below.
Recorded between Glasgow and Los Angeles, the new album will explore screen violence in three main forms – on screens, by screens, and through screens – with songs that address feelings of fear, loneliness, and disillusionment.
Speaking about the new album, singer Lauren Mayberry said “I think for me it was helpful to go into the process with the idea that I could write something escapist almost. That felt freeing initially, to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through but in the end, all the lyrics were definitely still personal.”
Bandmate Martin Doherty added: “To me, the screen aspect was a bit more literal. When we were making the record, it was like half of our lives were lived through screens. What began as a concept was now a lifeline.”

Additionally, Chvrches have announced dates for a fall North American tour that starts in November and wraps up in December in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 11th at 10 AM local time. See all the dates below.
