Gojira Will Perform At 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

Gojira is bringing metal to the Olympics. The French metal band is slated to play the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, July 26th.

Time Out and French newspaper Le Parisien report that their performance will feature opera singer Marina Viotti, who has not only performed in classic operas such as Carmen, she has also laid down some metal vocals for European acts, including Soulmaker.

Stage director Thomas Jolly will orchestrate the ceremony, which also features Celine Dion performing an Édith Piaf song, Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura, a duet between pianist Sofiane Pamart and singer Juliette Armanet, rapper Rim’K, and more.

The 2024 Paris Olypmics opening ceremony airs on NBC and Peacock on Friday, July 26th at 1:30 PM ET.
