Louis Cole Announces New Album, Shares ‘I’m Tight’
Funky jazz electronic artist Louis Cole has announced his new album, Quality Over Opinion, out October 14th via Brainfeeder.
The 20-track album was written, performed, and produced by Cole and features guest contributions from the likes of Genevieve Artadi (“my no.1 music collaborator”); saxophonist Sam Gendel – Cole’s friend for 17 years; pianist Chris Fishman; Nate Wood from the band Kneebody; Marlon Mackey (“a pillar of the Bakersfield music scene”); and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.
“This album is a representation of me trying to make the best, most powerful and listenable music I can. For myself and also others,” he says in a statement.
Cole’s inspirations for this record range from “Gustav Mahler and György Ligeti alongside jazz icons like Miles Davis, the Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah, Morten Lauridsen (distinguished professor of music and American Choral Master) and Super Mario Kart.”
“There is no continuous thread of a story on this album, each song expresses its own moment in my life and time,” explains Cole. “I was inspired by joy, pain and the constant mission to pull something out of life around me”.
In anticipation of the album, Cole has shared new single “I’m Tight,” a slinky funk-groove based tune.
“It comes from me recording about 100 different cells of funk, choosing my favorite ones and quilting them together into a song,” Cole said in a statement. “I had to practice the bass part a lot for this one.”

Previously, Cole shared “Let It Happen,” his first solo release since 2020. Both songs can be found on Quality Over Opinion. Pre-orders can be found here.
Louis Cole will perform a brief run of shows this fall starting October 19th in San Francisco, California and wrapping up October 23rd in Los Angeles, California. Check out his dates here.
