Pinhead Gunpowder Share New Single ‘Shine’

Pinhead Gunpowder have shared the lyric video for their new single “Shine.” The song comes from their upcoming album, Unt, out on October 18th via 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. Listen to “Shine” below.

The band, whose lineup features Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong and touring guitarist Jason White, bassist Bill Schneider, and drummer Aaron Cometbus, teamed up with longtime collaborator Chris Dugan to make their first proper album in 16 years.

“Pinhead Gunpowder started writing songs in 1990 and made our first 7” the following spring,” the band said in a statement. “But since 2010, we’ve been playing just for ourselves, something bands forget to do. Rather than ‘writing for the new album’ or rehearsing to get ready for tour, we went back to the basement every year.

A new record was only a matter of time, but between the members’ other bands, projects, and families that was hard to find. When we finally did, we were all surprised. We think it’s our best yet — our catchiest, most collaborative, and most poignant.”

Meanwhile, Green Day have shared three songs from their upcoming American Idiot 20th anniversary box set: the “Jesus of Suburbia” demo, a live recording of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” from Irving Plaza in 2004, and the B-side “Shoplifter.” Listen to those songs here.
