The Darkness Share New Video ‘I Hate Myself’

The Darkness have shared their new reflective video for “I Hate Myself,” the latest single from their upcoming album, Dreams on Toast.

The video, directed by Simon Emmet, was captured in one take, unedited, and features frontman Justin Hawkins playing with gender roles. He reflects on the breakdown of a relationship while gussied up in makeup and long flowing hair.

“I love working with Simon Emmett,” Hawkins said about the video. “Everything we have collaborated on has turned out great so far. This is no exception. The concept is related to the self-loathing that the song lyrically explores. And I feel the visual accompaniment has taken the song to the next level, and it was already my favorite Darkness song ever. I can’t wait for everybody to see it – it means a lot to me…and I’m here for the conversation. I love you all. I just hate myself.”

Dreams on Toast comes out on March 28th via Cooking Vinyl. Pre-order it here.

The Darkness will embark on a UK headline tour this summer. See where they’ll be playing here.
