Weezer Share New Song ‘Hero’

Weezer have released their new song “Hero,” from their upcoming album Van Weezer. The album was originally scheduled to drop this month but has been delayed due to the coronavirus. So far, a new release date hasn’t been announced.

“Hero” pays tribute to frontline workers currently fighting back against the coronavirus. “This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers,” a statement reads. To further show their support, the band teamed up with Postmates and Feed Hero Nurses to treat nurses at LA’s Good Samaritan Hospital meals from Uncle Paulie’s Deli during their breaks.

The accompanying video, filmed during quarantine, features footage of the band and other people, including frontline workers, in lockdown. Watch the video below.

Due to the pandemic, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day were forced to postpone European and Asian dates of their Hella Mega Tour. The North American leg is still scheduled for this summer.
