Anti-Flag Announce Abrupt Breakup

Anti-Flag have suddenly broken up. The news was shared in a brief post posted on their Patreon last night (July 19th) saying:

“Anti-Flag has disbanded. The Patreon has been switched into a mode where it will no longer charge the monthly fee. I will begin to process refunds to all patrons in the coming weeks. Once all refunds are processed the Patreon page will also be removed.” They also deleted their website and all of their social media pages. So far, the band have not released an official statement outside of Patreon.

No details regarding the split have emerged, but fans on Reddit were quick to point out the news comes after the most recent episode of the podcast enough, which featured a story from a woman about being raped by a singer in a political punk band from the East Coast. Though she didn’t name the band or the singer, she did refer to a March 2022 post on Tumblr called The Industry Ain’t Safe, which reads “Justin Sane from Anti-Flag. Am I really the only person this has happened to?”

You can find the podcast below. The story starts at the 16-minute mark.

Sane founded Anti-Flag in 1988 with drummer Pat Thetic. The band would go on to release 13 albums with their latest, Lies They Tell Our Children, released earlier this year. They were scheduled to hit the road with Bouncing Souls later this year.
