Coachella May Be Postponed Until October
Coachella organizers are reportedly looking into moving the music and arts festival to October due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.
Multiple sources have reported that Goldenvoice, the production company behind the event, is looking at moving the festival from the weekend of April 10th and April 17th to October. Journalist Yashar Ali wrote on Twitter that the festival is being moved to October 9th and October 16th, per an industry source. Both TMZ and YourEDM have reported the festival has indeed been postponed. So far, Goldenvoice has yet to release an official statement.
A source told Rolling Stone on Monday (Mar. 9) that several artist managers have been in talks with Goldenvoice for the last week discussing postponement of the festival. Another source said Coachella “confirmed” postponement with their agency on Monday night, but did not offer more details.
Billboard reports organizers are also in talks to push back its sister festival Stagecoach Music Festival, to October also. An official announcement is expected to be made tomorrow.
Coachella isn’t the only festival affected by the coronavirus. Last week, both South by Southwest and Miami’s Ultra Festival were canceled due to concerns with the virus.
