Metallica, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden And More Celebrate Chris Cornell At Tribute Concert

Last night (Jan. 16) Chris Cornell’s legacy was honored by his friends and peers in a star-studded tribute concert. Held at The Forum in Los Angeles, the  “I Am The Highway” concert  featured performances from numerous acts such as Ryan Adams, members of Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, Brandi Carlile, Josh Homme, Fiona Apple, Miley Cyrus, Miguel, and The Melvins just to name a few.

Lasing five hours and featuring a 42-song setlist, the evening was full moving tributes to the late singer. Highlights of the evening include Cornell’s band, Soundgarden, performing live for the first time since his death in 2017. They played an eight-song set with special guests Taylor Hawkins, Taylor Momsen, and Tom Morello. Other bands like Metallica and the Foo Fighters performed Soundgarden songs and some of their own classic hits during their short sets.

Check out some of the performances below.

Cornell’s widow Vicky paid an emotional tribute to her husband during the concert. “We all know how music can change us, but Chris did something more extraordinary — he changed music and paved the way for so many from Seattle to across the globe,” she said.

“Chris would be so very proud. Simply put, to me, and because of all of you, Chris lives on, a music immortal whose passion for helping others is more alive today than ever.”

All proceeds from the show go towards The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation and The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Center.
