The Smashing Pumpkins Return With Two New Singles ‘Cyr’ And ‘The Colour Of Love’

The Smashing Pumpkins are back! The band have shared two new singles: “Cyr” and “The Colour of Love.” The tracks are presumably from their forthcoming double album.

Recorded in Chicago and produced by frontman Billy Corgan, the new tracks feature Corgan and his fellow band members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, along with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

Corgan describes “Cyr” as “dystopic folly, one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”

Check out the songs below and watch the “Cyr” video director by Linda Strawberry.

Earlier this month, The Smashing Pumpkins posted five mysterious countdown clocks on their website. The first reach its end today (August 28). The remaining dates are Friday, September 18th; Friday, October 9th; Thursday, October 30th; and Friday, November 20th. Could one of these be an album release date? We’ll have to wait and see.
