Billie Joe Armstrong Pays Tribute To Adam Schlesinger With ‘That Thing You Do!’ Cover

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has shared the latest cover in his “No Fun Mondays” series. This time, Armstrong covers “That Thing You Do!” in honor of the late Adam Schlesinger.

Armstrong also shared an accompanying video featuring footage from Green Day’s 2012 New York show at Irving Plaza.

“Another week, another No Fun Mondays,” Armstrong wrote in the video description. “Today’s song is a tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger and the incredible music he wrote including this one, ‘That Thing You Do.’”

Last week, Armstrong shared his cover of The Avengers’ “Corpus Christi.” He recently revealed he’s been writing new Green Day songs while quarantined at home.

“I’ve been writing a lot of music, and I had all these melodies in my head, so I wrote, like, six songs since all of this has been going on,” he said in a Kerrang interview. “I don’t know when I can get together with Mike and Tré, but I told them to make sure that they’re quarantined for now, and then I hope down the road we can get back in the studio with [producer] Butch Walker.”
