Green Day To Headline Global Citizen Festival 2017
The Global Citizen Festival is back for the sixth time and its line-up is a treat!
The Global Citizen Festival is a live event taking place in New York’s Central Park. It’s somewhat unusual though – there is no way you can buy a ticket other than winning a lottery. But it’s still not everything – to participate in the lottery, you are required to perform a couple tasks concerning key global issues.
However, attending the festival is worth the effort. Not only it means helping a good cause, but you’ll also get to see a number of performers such as: Stevie Wonder, the Killers, the Chainsmokers, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, Andra Day, the Lumineers and Alessia Cara. Most recently, Green Day have been added to the list. The California punk band is currently touring the US in support of their last year’s album Revolution Radio.
The Global Citizen Festival takes place on September 23.
Green Day said: “We’re grateful to be a part of this year’s Global Citizen Festival. American aid programs make a significant difference in the betterment of lives at home and around the world, and we should all want these programs to become stronger, not weaker. We all play a part in seeing this mission through and it starts with calling on all our leaders.”
Today, the Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced the band is releasing a remix of their 2012 song “Fell For You” on Spotify. See his post and the artwork for the song below:
