Mindless Self Indulgence’s Jimmy Urine Announces Solo LP ‘Euringer’
It’s been a while since we heard any new music from Mindless Self Indulgence. Luckily, frontman Jimmy Urine aka Jimmy Euringer has got us covered with his newly announced solo LP. Dubbed EURINGER, the album drops October 19 and features guest spots from Gerard Way, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Morningwood’s Chantal Claret (his wife), and Grimes. This isn’t the first time Urine has worked with Grimes. He previously remixed Art Angels‘ “Kill V. Maim.”
The album consists of 16 tracks that are “woven together as one continuous piece of music.” There are also a few covers, including “Wuthering Heights” by Kate Bush and the Doobie Brothers’ “What a Fool Believes.”
”I was having fun exploring my brain and I wanted to invite my friends to have fun with me immersing myself in another time and space, bit by bit, gaining its form from my daily life into a surreal stream of consciousness,” Urine said in a press release.
Discussing the album with AltPress he says “This album is kind of a psychedelic, counterculture, avant-garde record with vocals. I’m calling it EURINGER because I didn’t want to corrupt any of the other stuff. It’s not Cinematic Sounds. It’s not MSI, which have always been a provocative in-your-face kind of band. [The solo album] allows me to experiment with various BPM speeds, lyrics and tones and try some other avenues.”
