Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross Will Score New Musical ‘Waves’

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recently released the new album, Bad Witch, under the Nine Inch Nails moniker, but they’re not ready to slow down. The two will compose the original score for the new musical, Waves, directed by Trey Edward Shults.

According to Variety, the musical is about contemporary teenage life and follows two young couples “as they navigate the emotional minefield of growing up and falling in love.” The music will synch up with the film while Reznor and Ross’ score will be paired with contemporary songs.

The cast for Waves isn’t finalized, but so far Lucas Hedges and Sterling K. Brown are in talks to sign on. Kelvin Harrison Jr and Taylor Russell may also join the cast.

Over the years, Reznor and Ross have worked on scores for several well known films, including Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, Before the Flood, Ken Burn’s The Vietnam War, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and The Social Network, which earned them an Oscar.

Nine Inch Nails are playing several festivals this summer and will embark on their own North American tour in support of their latest album, Bad Witch, this fall. Check out all their dates here.
