Gorillaz Detail Video Series ‘Song Machine’

We didn’t have to wait very long to figure out what Gorillaz are up to. The band has detailed the previously teased Song Machine Project.

Song Machine is a cartoon series that sees the band performing with different artists in their Kong Studios. The series won’t have a set schedule, with Gorillaz promising the “spontaneous delivery of episodes throughout the year.” So far, one full season of videos has been planned out.

Drummer Russel Hobbs said the following about the upcoming series:

“Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do. Gorillaz breaking the mold ‘cos the mold got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop. We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow. Y’know, just in case…”

The first episode of Song Machine premieres Thursday, January 30th at 2:30 p.m. ET and will feature the new song “Momentary Bliss” with contributions from slowthai and Slaves.

Each episode will be accompanied by “Machine Bitez” – mini conversations between cartoon band members and their real-life collaborators. Watch the first installment below.
