Green Day Share Nimrod-Era Cover Of Elvis Costello’s ‘Alison’

Green Day have shared their cover of Elvis Costello’s “Alison” taken from their upcoming release Nimrod 25 – 25th Anniversary Edition.

“Alison” is just one of the many unreleased demos included on the retrospective box set. It also includes a live set from the era and goodies, such as a booklet, cloth patch, poster, and slipmat depending on which version you get.

With Billie Joe Armstrong’s soft spoken delivery paired with the gentle acoustic guitar gives off Weezer vibes oddly enough.

Listen to the cover below.

Previously, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong performed “Alison” alongside Costello during a 2006 taping of the VH1 Classic series Decades Rock Live.

Nimrod 25 – 25th Anniversary Edition will be released as a 3XCD or 5XLP collection on January 27th. Pre-order yours here.

Later this year, Green Day will headline the second installment of When We Were Young festival alongside Blink-182.
