While You Were Away: YUNGBLUD Gets Personal, Soccer Mommy’s New EP, In This Moment Goes ‘Godmode,’ And More
This week on While You’re Away, we’re getting personal with YUNGBLUD, rocking out to new music from In This Moment and L.S.Dunes, Soccer Mommy’s new EP, and more.
L.S. Dunes drop new track ‘Old Wounds’
L.S. Dunes recently shared their new single “Old Wounds,” marking their second stand-alone single following “Benadryl Subreddit.”
“’Old Wounds” was a song that Travis brought to the band a while back,” says Frank Iero. “In getting ready for the upcoming desert session, Anthony came back around to it and ended up singing an incredible melody over it. After hearing Anthony’s voice on that song, it was pretty obvious what needed to be played over those existing melodies. ‘Old Wounds’ definitely feels like it represents the cold nights out in the desert for me and it might be one of my favourite songs we have done as a band.”
Anthony Green adds “’Old Wounds” was inspired by something I thought that I had lost that I actually needed to let go of.”
“The way everyone drifted into this song and brought their own energy was one of the most organic and natural approaches to songwriting I have ever been a part of,” continues Travis Stever. “From the initial instrumental ideas to the vocals Anthony added, all the way to the production, it just flowed. Like we had a road map for where the song would go already. The feelings it derives from me, and the continued layers make it possibly my favorite song I have ever been a part of writing.”

YUNGBLUD gets personal on new single ‘Hated’
YUNGBLUD has shared his new song “Hated,” his most personal yet.
Prior to its release, YUNGBLUD shared a trigger warning statement saying “Hated” is “the most personal song I’ve ever released” since it addresses the fact that he was “molested by a doctor” when he was a child.
“It’s a rallying cry and an exposition of the soul,” YUNGBLUD explains. “This song is ultimately about freeing yourself from bad experiences and trauma. Finding inner strength. Acknowledging your past, accepting the pain and having the courage not to let it define your future.
“You’ve got to kill somebody to be somebody to be who you want to be. You’ve got to hit rock bottom and live through all of the shit nobody believes. You’ve got to hurt some people but first some people will thirst on watching you bleed. And that’s when you know that you’ve made it. When you’re hated.”

In This Moment release new song ‘Godmode’
In This Moment have shared “Godmode” the title track from their upcoming album.
“The lyrics came from feeling powerful and tribal and entrancing,” vocalist Maria Brink said in a press statement. “The fact that [guitarist] Chris [Howorth] gets me so much that I can literally send him a voicemail and he sends it back to me in music form shows how in tune we are. It’s been a long time since I screamed on an entire verse for a song. I wanted to release a bunch of stuff and it felt visceral.”
